Songs from my youth...

I starteed to hum this song today, without knowing, and the lyrics just came to me. This was from elementary school.

There stands a little man in the deep dark woods.
He wears a purple coat and a small black hood.
Tell me who this man can be, standing there so silently.
In his purple coat and his small black hood.

Another song is called, "Witches Brew" but I can remember the lyrics completely. I just remember it says, 'Put them in my witches brew. I got magic. Alakazam, akazu." Something like that.

I'm just posting to remind me to look them up and research them.

UPDATE: FOUND ONE. I'LL JUST KEEP POSTED THE SONGS I FIND THAT I REMEMBER!

WITCHES BREW
By Hap Palmer

Dead leaves, seaweed, rotten eggs, too.
Stir them in my witches' brew.
I got magic, Alakazamakazoo.

Spider web, moldy bread, mucky mud, too.
Stir them in my witches' brew.
I got magic! Alakazamakazoo

Ooo - My witches' brew - ooo
What's it gonna do to you?
Boo!
Floor wax, thumb tacks, purple paint, too.
Stir them in my witches' brew.
I got magic, Alakazamakazoo.

Finger nails, lunch pails, apple cores, too.
Stir them in my witches' brew.
I got magic, Alakazamakazoo.

Ooo - My witches' brew - ooo
What's it gonna do to you?
Boo!

Wrinkled prunes, mushrooms, motor oil, too.
Stir them in my witches' brew.
I got magic, Alakazamakazoo.
I got magic, Alakazamakazoo.

GHOST OF TOM
Have you seen the ghost of Tom?
Long white bones with the skin all gone.
Po-oo-or Old Tom!
Wouldn't it be chilly with no skin on?
Boo!

Winner, Winner! Chicken Dinner!!! - Streets Fine Chicken

So my boyfriend had been craving fried chicken for a good while, but I'm not a big fan of fried chicken being that we eat chicken so often, but I caved in to him and decided to have a date night. He found a new spot, across the street from the little thrift store, "Out of the Closet." It's called Streets Fine Chicken and it was pretty fanfukingtastic. Here's the pictures to go with such a bold statement...

I loved the outside decor. The baby chicks with the mustaches slay me!

Here is our appetizer. It was ah-may-zing! These are called 'Chicken Lollipops.' They are Smoked n’ fried chicken drumsticks rolled in a Grand Marnier horseradish molasses. Yum!

I had the chicken pot pie with mac and cheese. It was delicious and the chicken was abundant and so moist.

My guy had his fried chicken, which he absolutely loved! He ended up taking some of it home and ate it for diner.

He also ordered his favorite, an old fashion, which he said tasted delicious. He's so picky about the drink, that I'm glad they made it to his liking. We both agreed the Streets Fine Chicken was a wonderful family place and we will be back!

Dinosaur Valley State Park

Lately, we've been trying to go out hiking every Saturday. Unfortunately, this last Saturday was ruined by a bad case of 'Mia feels like poop' so we had to stay at home and be vegetables. This was our hike from the Saturday before, so it's a little bit late.

So our hike started with a very eager Brandi, ready to get this hike on. She had patiently sat in the back seat of the car for almost two hours, and there was no stopping this 70 pound pit once her paws hit the dirt. She was excited and ready for the adventure.

At first, I thought, "This hike is going to be too easy. There's nothing but flat land here!" But our adventure quickly started when we had to cross a river to get the hike started. It was something else. The river almost covered the rocks, making them a bit slippery. It was a first for us.

Here's a picture of myself. I took this just in case I went missing. I shouldn't have taken it from the top looking down, since we all know that's the 'fat girl' favorite way to take a picture. It cuts at least 15 pounds off. If I would have been lost, they would have been deceived and not found me.

This is a tree that had fallen on to the ground. It was beautiful, but I had to get away from it as soon as I heard noises coming from inside of it. I can imagine something springing up and trying to take a bite of me. They would have had meals for days...

Here's some pictures of our happy family. You can still see the bump on Brandi's lip where she got bit by something on our previous trip to Lake Tawakoni. (The name might make people think that this is where 'Friday the 13th' or 'Sleepaway Camp' took place, but no. The scariest thing here were the huge, monstrous vultures that kept circling around, ready for a snack.)

The hike wasn't all flat, which made the adventure more fun for us. It was a good work out, which my butt appreciated.

These are my hiking shoes. I feel like I'm back in the 80s, with my big clunky red and grey shows. I had to, of course, not match. It's a rule when you find clunky old multicolored shoes that make you feel like you're a kid, that you wear mismatched clothes. A rule, I tell you. A girl gets overwhelmed by excess 'Punky Power,' as you can tell from my purple pants and teal blue shirt. That's what got me through the almost 4 mile hike.

We made Brandi stop and pose for us. It lasted all of 5 seconds.

This is the panoramic view of the lake before we crossed it and hiked to our car. It was a wonderful day!! We will definitely be  back!

Cedar State Hill Park

After much communication, we both decided some weekly outdoor time would be good for us, and our youngest pup Brandi. We decided to go to the Cedar State Hill Park, but the trails were all closed because it had been raining. The only part that was open was the Penn house, which ended up being a nice little walk. It was a beautiful day, and our Brandi loved it too!

My guy and sassy Miss Brandi.

The horse stables.

I fell in love with the ceiling. I especially love the tin roof peeking through the wooden boards.

She was such a happy puppy!

I love the different textures in this picture.

The Penn house.

I can't wait until the trails are open and we get to explore. We had such a great time!

Happiness is...

- Waking up to a man who loves you, makes you happy and talks about adventures with you.

- Knowing  you can be yourself around your boyfriend.

- Three puppies on the bed when you're feeling sicky.

- A amazing job that has many perks, like free tickets to the football game tomorrow, in a private suite with free F&B.

- Realizing that you're getting use to the humidity and heat in your great, new city.

- Knowing your better half (my partner in crime, best friend, road dawg aka my cousin April) is coming to visit soon.

- Knowing April is bringing along the person you love more than life with her, my niece Leila.

- Wrapping yourself in a blanket and watching the cheesy tv shows you like, like Hemlock Grove, The Good Witch, Midsomer Murders, while you try to rest so you can be 100% for tomorrow.

- Puppy love.

- Getting good morning text from your best friend in Sacramento, and multiple text since then to check in on you.

- Your boyfriend calling you check in on you and to tell you about his day, because he can't wait to talk to you.

Cali Girl in Dallas...

I'd like to start posting here more often. So much has happened since the last time I came on here to vent. I mean, I purged my blog of almost all the post, but it's with purpose. I'm not the same person I was before, and I'm definitely not in the same place I was.

For now, pictures will have to do!

From Cali to Texas...

From a little family of 3 to a family of 5...

Changes Are Coming...

It's funny because this is exactly what I've been thinking all day today. I miss the old Mia, the one that had her priorities straight and had a few goals in mind. ❤❤ The core Mia will remain the same, but changes are coming. It's time. ❤❤

Hi Mia, Here is your Daily Horoscope for Sunday - Sep 20, 2015 - Hold onto your dreams and don't let go! You can't let anyone tell you that what you want won't ever happen. You have the passionate determination you need to make anything happen, and you don't need naysayers bringing you down right now. Stand firm. You want what you want, so give it everything you've got. Even if it looks hopeless, as long as you have hope in your heart, hope survives! You have a vision of what you want the next year of your life to be. Go out and make it happen.
